Once a week 週記
Another recap?
Maybe.
Sometimes I wish I could be a bit more persistent and stay up till late at night just to type up what happened on the exact date because that way it's easier to keep my train of thoughts.
It's only been another week, but for some reason, it felt like it's been another month and felt like tons of things had happened. In reality, there's little to none has happened.
Well maybe not this week..... I don't know. (._.
Anyway, let's go back to last last Saturday.
Sept 18, 2009 Saturday - Dinner with Celina (Richmond?)
It is ever so rare for the two of us going out without a car.
Especially when Celina is always the one who drive.
Since I want to find something at Aberdeen Center, Celina and I decided to hang out at Richmond this time.
And instead of getting picked up, we met at Marine Drive Station, this way, it's easier for both of us to meet and no need to worry about crazy drivers and parking problem.
VCC Clark take 84 to Olympic Village Station, then to Marine Drive, only take 20 mins.
CanadaLine Rocks <3!
First time get off at Marine Drive Station.
I have to say it's the best looking CanadaLine Station so far.
Ends up the thing that i want to find is gone, vanished :'/
Although I've walked to many different shops, I could only find 1 similar one, but not the one I want.
So to wrap up the trip, I went downstair to visit Amine ^_^
and it happens that she's getting off soon! Right at the place, we decided to have dinner together :)
Dinner was at Jang Mo Jib
While Amine is taking care of the ordering, I started to unwrapped the long box I've received from Celina.

It's a set of photos! :O
it's arranged in chronological order since the Rockie Trip to this year's firework and comes with a little card that speaks of the giver's memory of each of the photo.

Sept 19, 2009 Sunday - A day of Volunteering for CPC with Connie
No photo for this one. Though I have to say I had a great experience working with the CPC.
I was assigned to the Mini police fitness course with my sister and few more guys.
It's definitely not as busy as the Bike section, but it was really fun to watch the kids tryout the mini course, trying their best to do their first sit up / push up of their life.
Out of all, there's this amazing 6 years old girl. She was youngest of all, but the most ambitious.
She surprised all of us by beating her own best scores 3 times over, topped the best record of the day, AND achieved her own goal - 30'.
Looking at her, makes me feel old, at the same time, ashame.
Sept 20, 2009 Monday - Meeting with Laureina and Ali + lunch
Tutorial Monday.
First sight interval drill quiz.
After the short 1 hour tutorial, I decided to stay behind and study for history.
More like catch up on my reading.
Sophia joined me shortly, and as she leaves, I received a phone call from ali...
So caught up with my "reading" I forgot about time, and did not realize that I was late.
Met Ali to get my bag and then met Laureina to get the Agenda.
For God's sake, I still do not understand why does Langara has to change its agenda to this ugly book binded style? December calendar is wrong, the time table chart is moved to the back of the agenda...
The entire agenda is like a fake LV or something -_-
Totally disappointing.
Oh well, I guess I just have to stick with my old style scheduler and wait for the HoBo to come =3=
Sept 24, 2009 Thursday - Trout Lake Skate Rink grand reopening!
Skipping ahead, we are here on September 24th
Since it's going to be a friend's birthday in a few days, but since he has plans on his bday already, I decided to hand out the gift today :)
And then, it's the reopening date for Trout Lake's Skating Rink!
Not only could you see the brand new Olympic Practice rink, and what's better, it's FREE admission day! Even rental is free =D =D! How awesome is that!?

Apparently the skates that I got are NEW :D

It's kind of hard to tell with my bad camera skill, but it's so much bigger than it was before!

How could I miss this great chance of having photo with the Mascots :D

いよいよ《07-GHOST》が終わった。
まぁ、終わる感じがしないけど…多分2期は作られるだろう
あったらいいなぁー(=^ω^=)
物語自身がずいぶんB(ry 女性向けだか、私にとって、2009年放送したアニメの中にTop 3に入れるくらい好きだ。
小製作し、カストは豪華ではないが、作画がとても綺麗。特に作画崩壊のことは一度もない所がすごい!アニメをよく見る人が多分わかると思うが、アニメって、作画崩壊はよくあること。特にSunriseとGonzoの作品w
だからDEENからこんなにいい作品をいただいて本当にうれしいです。
って、07-Ghostを話すれば、Noriaさんが歌った曲を語るべきだね。
特にアニメによく使った《ラグスの鎮魂歌》
最後のエピソウトにFULL ver.を披露した(^ロ^)/
あの曲を聞くと心癒される気がする*・*( ̄▽ ̄)**・
歌詞もとても綺麗し、07-GHOSTのストーリとすごい似合うと思う~

- Chris's welcome back dinner -
Went to watch "9" with Victor and Chris.
It's such a short movie, even the movie itself is okay, I can't believe they use "A Tim Burton production" as the advertisement, it's such a diss.
And on that day, I welcomed a new member to my family :)

I've been wanting to take him home since the first time I saw him, and thanks to Chris,
Quatchi finally finds its way home :) :)
Omg its soft fur is so tempting (´ Д `*)ハァハァ
After movie, the 3 of us went to get food.
We walked down Robson and eventually stop in front of a Korean Restaurant call...
We were seated at the second floor, pretty nice view ;)
and I got the house special and shared a bottle of Ume Shochu with Victor :)

- Night market ~the last summer fiesta~
My 2nd time to Richmond Night Market this year.
And this time, it's a girls' night with Connie and Tomomi :)
This year's food stands are much wider apart and easier to get through.
A big improvement :)
Busing to Night market should be very trouble free...
IF you know the bus route well.
Apparently not for me.
and the 3 of us wasted a lot of time waiting at a bus stop that had a schedule of 407 and 430, but turns out to be a unloading zone. WTF.
And to those who wants to go to night market before it close,
I suggest you to take the bus from Bridgeport station.
it's much closer and trouble free then getting on from Brighouse.
we were playing with the animal hats at one of the counter...
and we quickly ran away after we finish taking pictures (without buying anything XD)

what's so special about today?

Class from 8:30 - 2:00 as usual,
Went to return my 455 textbooks and got $60 back to my VISA :)
Got to Koerner and chill for a bit, and halfheartedly curse myself for not bringing 《Twilight》 with me.
Got text message from Sandra, saying that she was in the club room.
Against everything I've said to myself and went to clubroom today. Which, was worth it.
Got to see Arthur, Sandra, Harry, Randy, Hue
people I haven't see since April.
Why the heck is Ray not there?!
It would be a memorable reunion of the 4 of us! but no! ray is missing >=(
anyway~~
really stop by for a while,
and afterward, went to have "lunch" with Ali and Sandra @ the new Whitespot near Koerner.
I ordered Butter Chicken, Ali -> Fish and Chips, and Sandra -> Teriyaki chicken(?)
Mine was pretty good :) At least I like it ^^
only if the waitress wasn't so rush...
we didn't even ask for the bill and she already put it on our table... ._.
where's the chill?
n'ways, I was suppose to have audition today.
But ends up it didn't happen for some unknown reason.
By the time I got home, didn't feel like watch TV,
so I start working on the "thing" xd
and it's finally finished ;D
I guess it's a LITTLE bit better than the doggy... (._. )

Hair Cut // first time @ Odyssey
Just came back from the "O"
It was very fun, but also tiring.
I guess I would just do a quick recap on here.
1) Meeting with the Asian Studies undergraduate Advisor
... where I totally got lost and have to wait for a long time to see the most busiest advisor I've seen in UBC.
well at least all our questions are taken care off.
2)Hair cut @ 2
Yup, finally getting a new hair cut.
This time also asked Kenji san to do the job.

which includes a chocolate fondue dinner, and going to the "O" and see the guys get weird out XD

they were just waiting to be picked up. (LMAO)
It was actually much more fun then I expected :D

Including my little adventure before my hair cut, the fondue, and in the "O"
I think I am going to upload them tomorrow.

Ding Ding, it's first day of school.
It was a brilliant day.
So~~~ brilliant that you can't imagine that it was raining yesterday.
Of course, so the clear blue sky is so beautiful that make you forget school ever exist.
At least, that's what I've hoped.
Without the two morning class, first day of class was much more calm than I expected.
Two Japanese classes back to back followed by an Asian Lit course.
Thing went perfectly fine.... Or... is it?
Since all my class are only one Tuesday and Thursday,
they are all much more intense than the 200 courses.
A lot of outside class studies are required and there will be a lot of Quizzes, Exams, and paper through out the year.
Without the 2 MUSC courses, I am sure I can handle everything pretty well.
But... I can't be certain until next Monday and Tuesday comes.
After all, 6 hours straight is quite something.
Some Decision making....
So I had a look into the ASIA 455 course outline before class start,
and both Terry and I were horrified with the amount of readings we need to do,
so even before we got into our class, we started to consider the idea of getting into new class.
By we got to classroom 317, the was nearly full.
Tons of people I don't know, and some were from my 454 class.
(well no need to mention name, you probably have an idea who that would be)
When Stephanie stepped into the classroom, I was a bit surprised.
She look quite different from the last time I've seen her.
I guess a summer would make quite a change.
We spend the first class talking about the idea of "adaptation" (which is the theme of the course)
Right when we start discussing the topic, I already started to love the class.
Nothing more, just because the constant mention of MOVIES.
Yes. Movies.
And Shakespeare plays, and musical, opera.
How could I not love this class?
Then of course, this class is not about movies.
Though I was so absorbed in the discussion.
What makes a good adaptation? what not?
Are changes necessarily? What are the stuff that needs to keep?
I have to say, she's always good at making me feel interest in the subject she teaches.
But think again about the among of work load I would have from this class.
Things already became less vibrant than it was.
Meanwhile, Terry found another class that would fit in our schedule (more like replace this class)
after we get off this class, we immediately rush to B313, trying to catch the prof.
Actually we were early, so we stayed in the lounge for a while.
Though the B building looks old outside, inside was like another space.
The new lecture room and lounge are amazing.
I wish I some time to spend in there.
Maybe have one or two classes in there is not so bad too.
Back to the topic.
The new class Terry found is South-East Asian Literature.
In another word, Taiwanese films and novels.
After looking through the syllabus, I realize the course itself isn't much difference from the 455.
Well, I guess the fact that there's no midterm and final would be one of the major difference.
Oh, and the fact that 360A (South-east asian lit) has 6 books to read and some more reading materials on vista whereas 455 has 3 books to read, and much more reading materials on vista.
To be honest, I really have no idea which one would be better.
Both have 2 essay, 1 final project.
455 has an In-class Final, but no midterm.
360A has less reading material (maybe), no Final / Midterm, but papers weight much more.
hmmm.... tough decision....
Wrapping up
Ignoring the fact that there are still many choices to make,
I had quite a fabulous day today.
I've meet two of my choir classmate, both of them planning to return to choir...
I wish I could too. But that would greatly alter my schedule....
Finally I get to meet Jamie + Terry (exclude Richard)
haven't see them since..... since the night I meet Tomomi, which is... a month ago????
The moment I find the classroom and see Jamie in the classroom, I can help but gave a smile.
It feels so nice to see familiar face on your first day of class, in your first class.
(Of course, another smile when we see Terry arrived 3 minutes early before class! xD)
Obviously there's also Chris, after 6 months of co-op, he's finally back to UBC,
back to Vancouver, the best place on earth (advertisment)
Just a little bit, we got to meet each other and had a little chat.
It's ever so nice to hear that hahahaha laugh again ;)
It's an amazing first day.
Even better than last year one.
Yes there were things that I didn't like much.
Giving example a person that I wish would not be in the class, is, in fact, there.
Right next to me. (Oh well...)
I took a total different bus route back home today.
25 all the way to Boye diversion
It's such a nice day.
I feel like it would be wasted if I end up standing under the bus stop roof and wait for the never-on-time 16 to come.
So I walked all the way back home.
How long has it been the last time I walk all the way from 22nd ave back home?
As I walked down the path and reminiscing the high school time when I always choose to walk back home instead of busing, I can't help but think...
Despite the crappy winter + spring weather, Vancouver really is a nice place to live in.
On a fine sunny day, any moment its scenery would turn into a beautiful canopy.
Tonight Connie is going to make 北海道シチュー <3
Maybe I will make an update about it. Maybe.

Tear down: Day 2
(anyone need boxes?)
Day #2, also last day for me.
Not only tear down tiring, the rain makes it even harder it bring myself to a happy mood.
Thank god I have some 後輩 to spend the day with, so turns out the day was not as bad.
It is TRUE that it is an easy day compare to yesterday,
but not it does not make the day pass any EASIER.
Why?
because it's repetitive work.
The majority of the time spend on sorting jeans and manually count them ALL.
23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31... 32.... 33........ 34
34?!
yea, you didn't hear it wrong, it's 34.
there were over 5xx jeans there, and counting them one by one and try to fold them in the right way...
Yea... good luck.
The latter half of the day is mostly clean up.
Sweep the floor, throw away unwanted stuff and last but the most annoying one.
take down the boxes.
Just so you know, the photo up there is only about 2/3 of the original pile.
Spend around 2 hours cut + flatting the cardboard....
Sounds like an easy task?
yea it is, only when you have the right tool.
and oh, the shift was extended by 30mins
By the end of the shift, I can feel nothing but dust.
(and because the main building was locked, I was force to go home with my hand.... dirty)
The moment I step into the house, I immediately rush into the bathroom to take a hot shower and follow by dinner (Udon).
The moment I sat down at my usual spot, I felt so much more refresh.
Much better than yesterday.
Tomorrow is first day of school, I better get read and sleep early.

泣き続けた夜
また、寝ている間に泣いてしまった。
どうしても止まらなかった涙。
どんな夢が見たのは覚えないんだが、
夢の中にひどい目にされだことだけが分かってる。
何だか苦しくて、悔しくていた。
反撃したいけど何も出来ないの無力状態がいた。
泣くしかなかった、でも泣く自分が情けないすぎで、悔し。
その気持ち、胸に攻め込む、
目が覚めたら、本当に泣いていた。
止めようと思っても、止まらない。
仕様がないから、暫くほっといてと思ったが、
すぐ誰かが起こしちゃうかもと思って、
声が出さないように、しくしく泣いていた。
バカみたいに
一様、どうしてなくの理由を考えていたが、
諦めた。
理由はきっと嫌なことでしょう。
それを思い出せないようにする。
多分何時間も泣いていただろう
今朝起きたから、目袋が痛い、目蓋も重くて開かない・・・
これからアルバイトがあるのに、目がこんな状態で、どうしよう・・・・

Tear down: Day 1
Man, this is even more tire than the actual warehouse sales.
I suppose I could say this because I work at the cashier section where all we do is get as many transactions done as possible.
It's a long day.
Not because of the amount of work load I get, but because of the type of work getting done.
First half of the shift past with endless sorting:
separating all clothes by brands, pick out randoms, put them in sections,
then sort them again by style and maybe colour.
The second half of the shift is to finish the rest of the sorting.
The huge pile of random brand or single items.
Thank god sorting through the random racks are much easier than expected,
the rest of the hours is just go around clearing up the area and find different things to do.
At least, sorting hangers are fun :P
mindless work that you can do while sitting.
During my shift I was considering to cancel tomorrow's shift.
Seriously, tear down is not that fun (but I suppose it's better than set up)
But toward the end of the shift, I changed my mind.
David said with today's progress, we might not even need to come in on Friday,
and tomorrow we are most likely going to sort the bags (hopefully NOT the accessories)
so maybe that's not as bad as today.
During lunch time, I regret I slack off in the morning and didn't go subway buy a lunch.
I have no idea where the only food place is, and had trouble to find a proper place to sit down and rest.
Ends up I spend my break at the entrance (loading zone) of the warehouse.
Oh well, I think that's where I'm spending my lunch tomorrow too.
Thank god I brought my book with me.
I had enough time to finish another chapter, but the trade off is, I was too hungry and tired to stand when it gets to the last hour.
But of course, my day doesn't end here.
There was a dinner tonight with my cousins. There again, dine out.
Dinner was fun.
I get to catch up on stories I've missed and what's more, tons of laughter.
Nothing better than laughter to ease off some the tiredness.
At the end of the dinner, I have gained some of the energy back.
Then there was the phone call.
I like party.
I like to go out and enjoy my time with friends.
I like to watch movie, dine out, or even bbt.
But there are times when I want my private time too.
And there are times when I am so tired that I want to rest.
Like today. And most likely tomorrow.
I am sure everyone has that kind of moment, where one work long hours and had little to no rest, and one wants nothing more but a comfy bed.
This is what I want.
Some rest.
Some rest before the big day, my first day of class (though really school ended not long ago)
I understand everyone has their own plan or things to schedule.
If timing is not right, then the meeting just have to delay.
I am cool with that.
I see social activities as leisure pleasure, not some have-to-do duty.
If I don't feel like it, or the timing is not right, I just can't do it.
Forcing a meeting to work, or myself to go out is just wrong.
Meeting friends should be more relaxing, than pressing.
To speak the truth, that disapprove / "oh if you don't take this opportunity you are missing out" tone is NOT impressing.
When you have circumstances, you have plans, I understand.
I take time and effort to work around with your schedule.
And even now, I am not asking for anything.
I am not asking you to sacrifice your chance to meet your friends for me.
I don't see any reason why I deserve that.
NOT cool.
One thing I have to admit (though not really showing well in the photo)
This year's location is a really nice space with a gorgeous view (except occasional sound that trains made =p)
I keep on reminding myself to get a photo of the entire space and totally forget about it.... Orz
Oh well, time to sleep.
Need to do another 9 - 5 tomorrow!

Update of tonight's dinner
Tonight is the Semester-end Dinner, where I can gather with some high school friends.
It's not like I don't see them at school, but meeting like this gives a total different feeling than just accidently bump into each other at school.
Tonight, instead of going to our usual Japanese dinner, we forge to this Italian restaurant call Addacini.
Don't ask me where it is.... I was just blindly follow Philip :p
Unfortunately Mo has to ditch us because of his exam(?) tomorrow, but there are still quite a number of people showed up.
Ricky Y. , Philip (of course), Hartanto, Bobby, Laiyi, Sally, and Darrin.
The dinner was nice, and surely there were a lot of laughter :)
Especially when we were waiting for the bus (which won't come for another 25 min!)
we started to play games to kill time.
The One word story was the best, it seems that everyone wants to see the story goes dirty, but not in their own hands :P
Another good one is the black magic.
It's superpower! the inner eye!!
or.... is it? :D
Haven't play that game since high school and it's still fun just to see people's trying to figure out the trick >=)
now I'm all full and awake....
I confirmed about my availability but haven't receive any reply.....
I wonder if I need to show up tomorrow after all... ?
It would suck if I show up and got told that my shift is not schedule -_-

let's go to bed and get some rest for tomorrow.
